So, you have packed your things, taken you favorite laptop and a teddy bear and now you are leaving your home for such a long period of time. What is waiting for you? Nobody knows for sure. College life treats all students differently. The way you will feel on campus depends on the type of your personality, your upbringing, your attitude to life, studies, and people surrounding you. Still, if you are a non-local student, there will be at least one or two people who will be very close to you and whom you should get accustomed to, they are your roommates. Is it necessary to explain you that a roommate can become closer than a blood brother and there can be a roommate who can be considered a curse for all your karmic sins from the previous incarnations?

Keeping peace with your roommate

1.Decide on the noise first if all. Discuss if it is possible for you to study and listen to music at the same time. Some people get information only when they read it aloud. If you are such a type, think about your roommate, it will hardly be pleasant for him to study to constant murmur.

2.Settle the matter with neatness. A person who is a messy type can become a real punishment for a neat one.

3.At the same time, people who are obsessed with cleanness are not pleasant roommates either.

4.Make a schedule that will plan your activity and allocate your duties. This will help you to avoid unnecessary squabbles.

He is not a roommate, he is a monster!

If you want to coexist with our roommate peacefully, try to avoid the conduct described below. It is typical of a roommate of a monster type.

1.Taking a shower during two hours.

2.Borrowing things without their owner’s consent.

3.Inviting a dozen of guests when you roommate has to study and take an exam the next day.

When a newly-made college student who used to be a high school graduate only yesterday enters his/her alma mater for the first time, everything is new for him/her. Everything seems familiar as studying is always studying, but, at the same time, there is constant feeling of being a human among Martians. You do not know where to go, what to do, whom to ask a question, and you have many questions concerning all spheres of you new life. Do not hurry, please. Let us consider every aspect of college life separately. This article will cast light on the problem of behavior at lectures, a form of educational process that is entirely new for you. Lectures are not typical for high school; this is why freshmen can find them perplexing. Proper student’s conduct at lectures • You should arrive on time; this is the first golden rule of lectures. Usually lecturers gather huge audience, it can comprise up to 200 students, and it is difficult to maintain academic silence and discipline. If at least 10 percent of students are late for a lecture, their gradual arrival will spoil it. • You should stay in your place during a lecture, which does not mean that you should be immovable during an hour. It only means that you should not walk in the lecture hall without permission. • Leave lecture hall only when dismissed. Even if a lecturer is as dull as dishwater, show your respect or do not show your disrespect at least. • It is highly advisable to make notes at lectures. On the whole, their main function is to impart knowledge to you, try to get it. Improper behavior of a student at a lecture • Sleeping is not allowed at a lecture. It may well be that you have visited an all-night party but it will not be a sound reason for sleeping in a professor’s point of view. • Eating and, what is more, drinking alcohol are not allowed. Can you wait a bit? There probably will be another all-night party tonight, postpone, so try to abstain till the party. • Reading newspapers is not allowed at lecture.

Do you think that college life is all fun and parties? To a certain extent, it is so but it is not entirely true. There are some problems every student should cope with. In fact, these problems begin before you arrive at campus for the first time. The problems begin when you are still at home, packing your luggage for a college trip. There are so many things to take, all of them ate necessary, but the fact remains that your suitcases are not stretch. To make a choice of things to take along with you to college campus, you should make a list of necessary things in order not to forget anything. The things to bring to a dorm • You are going to study at college and you need a computer, as all professors demand typed papers today. A laptop will be the best choice. • Bring a good alarm-clock that will be able to wake you up even if you visited a night-long party. • Do not forget to bring toiletries and bedding. • You may also bring you family photos. • Something personal, like a favorite plant, will be useful. The things not to bring to a dorm • Do not bring your pets to the dorm even if your pet tarantula spider misses you very much. • Do not bring very expensive luxurious things, there are many residents in a dorm, if someone wants to borrow your expensive thing, there is no guarantee that you will see it again. • All the clothes you have are also not necessary to take at once. Remember that you will go home for holidays and you may take more clothes then. • Never bring alcohol nor drugs to a dorm, they are prohibited by law and ethical code.
