Whatever fraternity you belonged to in college, it is a good idea to have some things as mementos when you leave. You may want to wait until you actually leave before you buy something or maybe start looking around sooner. Many people like to buy things which will help to preserve those memories that they have of their time at college. It is a long time and normally a  life changing experience which is why it is something that people want to remember. Often it can be the first time away from home and this means that you will learn a lot of valuable life lessons. It can also be a time when you make very strong friendships, some of which may last you through the rest of your life. It is nice to have something to not only remember your time but to also show your allegiance to the particular fraternity that you are a member of. Often people like to buy some fraternity apparel which they can wear not only when they are in college, but also afterwards. This is a good type of memento to have because it is useful and so you will be wearing it rather than pushing it to the back of a drawer and forgetting about it, which might be what you do with something like a Chi Omega paddle.

Think hard about what you choose to buy and what will serve the best purpose for you. Think about whether you just want a memento or whether something more useful or practical would be better for you. It is not a decision that you should rush to make, but of course, even after you have left college you should still be able to buy things, so if you do change your mind you can still shop. It is a good idea to take a careful look at everything that is available. It is probably tempting to just buy something that you have seen someone else with or wearing. However, until you know all that is available you are not in position to make an informed decision as to what will be the best for you. Also in this tough economic climate, you do not want to buy anything in haste as you may not be in a situation of being able to afford to buy a replacement item if you want to.
