CPAC Honored at 78th Grand Chapter Meeting

78th Grand Chapter Meeting LogoThe College Park Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. marked the end of an outstanding year of achievement with receipt of several honors at the fraternity's 78th Grand Chapter meeting in Minneapolis, MN. The biennial Conclave is an opportunity for fraternity members from around the world to come together to conduct fraternity business, elect Grand Chapter officers, recognize achievement, and socialize.  The College Park Alumni Chapter was honored for its exceptional work during the 2006-07 fraternal year in the areas of Guide Right and Technology.

Mayor Salutes the College Park Alumni Chapter

Mayor's Ball LogoThe College Park Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. was honored by the mayor of College Park, GA as a 2007 Crystal Chalice Award Honoree for Outstanding Community Service. The Honorable Jack Longino presented the chapter with the award at the second annual Mayor's Ball held on August 18, 2007, at the Georgia International Convention Center. The chapter was recognized for its outstanding work with College Park Elementary School, the Jesse Draper Boys & Girls Club, South Fulton Senior Services, and other organizations in need of volunteers within the City of College Park.

CPAC Awards Scholarships

The College Park Alumni Chapter awarded its annual Student of the Year scholarships on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Contestants were judged on poise, talent, interview, and academic record as they competed for the first-place prize. Four winners received scholarship funds from the chapter. The first place winner was a Westlake High School senior who plans to attend Yale University in the fall. He becomes the chapter's second consecutive competition winner to attend one of the nation's top Ivy League institutions and will represent the chapter at the regional Student of the Year Scholarship Competition in March 2008.

CPAC Launches Golf Academy

Kappa Leaguers practice under the direction of Steve Ridge

The College Park Alumni Chapter launched its Kappa League Golf Academy on October 14, 2007. The chapter has partnered with the Historic College Park Golf Course and provides its Kappa League members the opportunity to receive golf lessons on a regular basis. The lessons are provided by Professional Golf Association (PGA) member Steve Ridge who is also the Director of Instruction at the golf course. The chapter, through this partnership, has provided the youth the avenue to be exposed to golf as well as the chance to receive training from a golf professional.
